Instead of being busy, focus on being productive!!
Improving processes is all about doing things faster with improved quality at the same time. Talking about methods, People play a pivotal role in the implementation of any process and making it a “Success.” And to do this, we need to be more efficient — which is nothing but increasing your productivity. With increasing demands and having any time, anywhere workplace culture taking shape, it has become even more critical now.
Being organized is a crucial part of productivity. When we have multiple things to achieve, we start creating clutter — which, when accumulates, our focus reduces, and performance can suffer as a result. When your brain, time, workspace, and work is organized, it becomes easier to streamline processes. While there are many ways to be organized, here are a few of my tried and tested things that work and let productivity come naturally.
- Outline Your Priority — Before you start your day, have your goals identified, and have priorities of the day identified. Work with the highest priority is the first to be completed to accomplish your most important goal and move things forward.
- Make an Effort Not to Multitask — Juggling between various tasks does nothing but divert and slow the overall work. When we try to do two or more things at same time can release the stress hormone cortisol in the brain, impacting the ability to concentrate and, hence, make you slow.
- Timebox each Activity — Timebox each activity you need to accomplish if stuck, move to the next one, and come back to this with a clear mind and try again. The concept is simple — create a schedule for each day, defining time for every task you need to complete. This creates deadlines and puts time box on tasks, making it an automatic organizer.
- Use a task list — Task lists are great when it comes to being organized, but only if used correctly. The correct way to use them is to limit tasks to 5 or less. This ensures better visibility of all work to be completed and forces you to pick only the most essential duties, ensuring that work is completed every day.
- Delegate Work — Organized people are smart enough, understand what they need to do, and what they need to get done. As individuals, we can’t take on the whole world; give some duties to others. It’s not about commanding and controlling people around, but more to do with distributing work to those you’re involved with and who are better at doing the particular job. People won’t hate or disrespect you if you’re delegating fairly.
